MAX RECLINE edition
GGs. On break now. Lag was really bad today.
Have you noticed that when your Reimu zoned Marisa just on the edge of your far melee range, you could land both melee and bullets but most of my quick moves were out of reach (ignoring the 5c spam)? Find more ways to get out those slow, slow 5C's and line up Youkai Buster better. Watch for Marisa's high jump j.5a approaches - they're fast, but the angle is usually obvious because they have to be fast to hit. Other than that, try to zone with melee a bit better and learn some pressure - really learn some pressure it's what wins games.
I think someone is sucking up all the internet and theres none left for soku.
It's nice being able to play neutral now rather than only being part of a marisa combo video.
I keep forgetting about 2b for pressure even though it's airtight from 6a. I've done some pressure strings in practive mode but I flub it when I play a game, like I get an accension kick instead of youkai buster or accidently hold 2 from my 2a when trying to 6a and get 3a.
As for zoning I think I'm getting the hang of it, reimu has big disjoints, so big that I can do f.a twice before you close the distance.
5c is good I need to learn to land cancel it.
Concentrate on not dying and pressure first. Then you can try to go for spellcards. While you're attacking, it's hard to get damaged in this game, so between nailing timing of spellcards and staying on the offensive, the latter is more important. It's why it's great to break first two orbs to Border Escape out of enemy pressure, they regenerate, it's possible to make do with 3-4 orbs in stock and it lets you not get raped by guard crush into 2-3k combo or just plain raped.
>How to host
1. Port forward a port. Detailed instructions available on the internet. A single port is needed, default option is 10800, but can be changed to something else.
2. Launch soku with sokuroll. Go to Network menu. Press Server Setup, input forwarded port, post IP.
3. Play game when someone connects ｷﾀ━━━(ﾟ∀ﾟ)━━━!!
GGs Iku. Will host some more in 1-2 hours, need a small break.
I'd say you need to get better at lining up those j.2a's, limiting certain combos (j.6c into j.6c does damage, but opponent gets to recover) and general defense. Defense would include staying out of range of reach melee attacks like Marisa's j.6a while dashing and at disadvantage, baiting into those severe and wide j.2a's, thinking about when to Border Escape out of pressure, things like these. Iku is a good character, but she's a little bit slow and hard to use.
GGs reimu anon. You got better over the past while but you forgot about youmu! Your main goals for now is to figure out how to escape my annoying pressure strings. High jump 8 and BE2 can help with that. Patience in the corner is your friend, but don't be too patient, you don't won't to get crushed over and over.
I feel like youmu just keeps cancelling into more and more melees and am getting a bit crushed. And I keep trying to poke since you leave those juicy gaps between.
I will lern some good combos eventually but under pressure it all goes out the window.
I also seem to have been conditioned to always run away during typhoon even when I'm winning, small brain malfunction.
There's nothing wrong with playing a bit fast and loose since you're still learning to judge whether you can punish me for a sloppy move or if I'm just baiting. You really could poke more under pressure. Of course you will end up getting hit a lot, but either way, you're going to have to die a lot in order to git gud, so there's no shame in trying.
Okay. I have absolutely no fucking idea why half of those things hit, specially that last hit, or how I even managed to combo you in the air as i've never done that before. Maybe I should be calming down a bit.
For that one match where I just ignored your spellcard and sat next to you instead of capitalizing on it.
Regardless, very good games, work a bit on your pressure as I'm getting away with a lot of stuff i shouldn't be able to.
It is not my thing, I like to be respectful in matches if a bit playful. There's definitely a huge gap in skill here or it's just the matchup being really bad/unknown for you. Perhaps I should have tried a different character to keep it more balanced, but you still did do some great moves and reads here and there that got you a match. You really need to work on damage and wakeup setups for komi though.
yeah you knew I was going to try the j2a, but I can't land that shit for some reason. As for flailing, yeah, it kinda sucks when you just keep getting cornered and combo'd forever. You need to escape pressure more effectively. Work on doing tricky BE's air/chickenblocking to slide out when I don't expect it. You have to remember youmu's options so that you can exploit/survive them. Next time I'll work on another character so that it's not all defense practice.
Watching the replays back it wasn't as bad as I thought it was.
I got a bit tilted from misinputting some basic things and making mistakes I'd already learnt not to make but I think I was just tired.I fealt like I wan't improving but after watching some earlier games of mine I realised I'd just forgetten how bad I was before.
The number of times I flew into myon without realising and got destroyed is funny. I promise to not forget about her anymore.
I also seem to have an addiction to right blocking. I just want to right block all youmu's 2a and it makes me happy inside. Like I almost feel bad for how long you have to hold 2 down to do all of them.
"Time to kick reimu's skirt up and rape her in this courner. AGAIN."
Sucking is relative. You're better than before but there's a long way to go. That's no different than it is for me. When you identify a problem in your technique, you need to pay attention to it and explore new options, test them in matches against tough opponents and see what works. Get specific, like you're ironing out wrinkles. The game will trick you if you don't make mental note of what moves surprise you. Some have deceptive recovery/hitboxes. Remember what catches you off guard: know yourself and know the enemy. The 2C thing is a good example, I know you don't think about it because you don't play youmu. I will often catch you going in to attack when myon is obviously right between us. You know how I dash under you, and from side to side? This sets up these situations. Remember that, and pay attention. Use patience and ambiguity; bait and punish.
Can play for a little while, reply for host.
alright ggs. sometimes you need to air tech less and just hit the ground. when you do air tech, block when I'm nearby because I have advantage. You can't attack right away so you'll end up getting fucked up if you're not absolutely sure. Remember you have 3 options for rolling; left, right, or center. The point is not to get away, it's to make sure I don't know which way you're going to go. Instead of trying to get away, try to do what I'm not expecting. Otherwise you get clone'd.
ohoho a sakuya main? we really did need someone who could to punish us with bullet spam and fast melee pressure so that should be fun.
reimufag, try dashing through bullets more when under ground melee pressure. If you block bullets too much and your opponent will not fear you. Watch for when their melees are out of range. All characters have a A>B>C loop, where melee cancels into fast bullet into strong bullet and then special or highjump reset. You can dash forward into block to maintain spacing away from the corner, jump out, or just poke with 4a.
I feel like I've been sheltered from the power of knives so far so these games were a good beatdown.
I think I only got you to BE once in those games. My pressure needs a bit of work.
You definitely aren't getting punished from air teching enough. I got a lot of easy damage.
i get the feeling like sometimes you'd be way too passive on block and others you'd mash that BE the instant i even touched you while blocking. it's probably better to find a balance between both, the former just lets me pressure you for way too long because extending blockstrings with bullets is pretty easy, and the latter means you are probably not reacting to what move i'm even attacking you with, which could mean i could just follow up with a melee move and just catch you during the startup of your BE (which did happen one too many times). usually the safe times are when you see command normals, which can usually only be followed up with bullets, it's probably better to wait till those instead of BEing absolutely everything. although that can be useful against stuff like my spell card guard crush setups, this was a good opportunity for me to practice the timing for those as well, precisely because of that
you did much better when you stopped respecting me too much like at the beginning, honestly with some optimization on your blockstrings and combos you could definitely get a good amount of games
Also thank you for the advice youmu senpai. I did read during the games and it healped when I remembered. I forget about greedy pressure where the opponent uses bullets instead of melee on wakeup, even though I've been crushed countless times from marisa 5c when I wakeup. I've learnt this I just forgot. I should probably start doing it too with my own 5c since its +9 uncancelled.
Some times I predict a move to BE but don't BE, then BE when I realise I haven't but then It's too late
A bad habit from someone who does lots of staggered melees.
>stopped respecting too much
Honestly, I just didn't know what your moves were or how they worked and I'm used to having better projectiles than my opponent. Trying to figure them out took some time.
GGs again reimu. A big part of the game is keeping your opponent under pressure while not letting them know what you're planning to do. You need to fake out moves more, and wait til you see a good opening. Right now it feels like you're calling out "I'm attacking" or "I'm defending." Be more deceptive and I won't be able to DP you constantly.
