I don't recommend SLI for anyone who doesn't handle or tolerate debugging problems well.

Since installing the second card I have more driver fails and the position of the two cards doesn't lend well to heat distribution

What cards do you have? Also in general due to prices it’s better price to performance just buying one better card than two of the same cards, last I remember.

remove one of the cards?

1GB and 2GB GTX560TI CARDS. Palit and EVGA respectively.

The 2" smaller palit at the top is on average 20C higher than the longer 2GB EVGA.

I bought the evga card second hand and it cost 110$ with shipping and the molex power connector I needed to buy which is 30$ cheaper than the 750 which it matches in my benchmarks

I don’t know you’re exact situation but I’d say you overpayed, paying $110 even with shipping for a 560TI. EVGA itself was selling used 1050ti’s for $90 just recently. I remember reading or maybe watching something saying that the older gen SLI is garbage and while it has gotten better there are 3rd party tools that do it better and are more stable. I’d imagine even RX 560 or 460’s would be better than those and they should be about $100 new. I know on some of the newer games and cards SLI setups have given either almost no increase or just around double increase when compared to the single cards. This caring by game and of course I’m only regurgitating things I’ve read and watch.

90CAD(67.52USD) for the card.
If there's some other great deal they failed to reach me as a customer.

As for the SLI, it's a straight double in performance. The problem is that if you tamper with the Nvidia control panel too much it'll crash the cards

I just crashed my card trying to run the benchmark test….

but it performs above the GTX 680 and bellow the Radeon HD 7970 at a score of 3200 or something

supposedly the 7970 is the competitor card to the 1050 or something so if I'm in the ballpark probably not too bad

I think I told you that earlier, heh. It's a mess and I don't even see charts use SLI in them any more
