>>11981 I think it's fair to say that it creates an atmosphere of people aping ota/gnfos since that's the kind of stuff familiar to posters here's that in the "do not post" category. But I wouldn't say that the imitation stuff is necessarily all bad, or can only be bad. Back on 4/qa/ it existed too and eventually lead to the flourishing blog thread with the imitation eventually becoming its own thing detached from the source. Without a truly terrible reason behind it I find those posts more harmless than anything. Somewhat pointless noise in an ocean of differing posts.
I think when we both talk about notoriety of the board, we have different thoughts about what the notoriety stage of it would look like. Your thoughts are probably more of typical lawless boards that all share the same culture. To me I'm more thinking notoriety from the potential arguments that could generate from it, alongside a healthy dose of moderator fuckery and experimental board design that is all fair for a board not meant to be the main culture of a site. The first is probably the hardest for this site to achieve and is probably what keeps my pipe dreams pipe dreams because of the fact that we'd need people that have the fight in them to really get passionate and go on for hundreds of posts on an argument, and I think most people still around are a bit more mellowed out than that. A small gripe I have is that we've driven off a small share of really aggressive posters that'd probably be up for passionately debating their ideas online because of the propensity they had for drama, but that's in the past and I don't think there's much we can do about that now. The mod fun should be self-explanatory with how much we mess with /secret/, and when it comes to experimental I've got a few ideas up my sleeve like handing over control of /secret/ to a new person each week to see how that goes (like /z/). The main issue with a lot of these is that for me the experiments would probably be better served with a larger population so I'm not sure how much I want to invest in them if they wouldn't really have much of an impact. But yeah, I sorta see the topic of notoriety in a more positive light and I can understand seeing what we've done so far as trying to encourage a kuso culture on /secret/. I do admit there's been some flaws with that, but I think it's gotten the board to a state in which expect

>>11979 >but the chaotic and ruleless nature of it would allow for shitposts and topic derailment that somewhat livens it up in contrast to whatever boring meta people may be having. Those contentions between posters could probably even spawn its own meta too. "I can't say I really miss 4/qa/ as a whole, especially the belligerence and necessity of maintaining excessive filters"
>Maybe you or someone else said it that "/secret/ shouldn't just be the shit board" Indeed.
>it should be the board where people say whatever comes to mind regardless of whether it fits in line with the culture of the site I still maintain, "you will simply encourage less desirable behavior that is not accepted on other boards." As you yourself conceded, I also believe there are too few users for it to function the way you're describing. In my opinion, the few number of users limits it by reinforcing the negative stereotype of it being the shitpost board, which itself is hard to overcome because there are not more users to challenge that perception and transform it into something unique. Instead, it merely acts as a foil to Kissu itself, representing an awkward melding of the posting characteristics of other spinoffs like gnfos -- because again, you're not going to eek out anything new from posters who are already attracted here, you're just going to encourage things that they wouldn't post on other boards.
I also wholeheartedly disagree with the "notoriety theory" mentioned in #qa, and alluded to in other places. That being, users are a attracted to a particular board due to notoriety, and although, "you're attracting a large amount of eyes on your site it's not just shitters that'll come over [...] it'll also be just normal posters that come to check out what the buzz is about". As is the case with every imageboard I have browsed, those sites that have an identifiable lighthouse of a board that attracts users, in every case the additional boards that the site hosts are not purely related to the topic of the board, but instead have the inflected mannerisms and posting behavior of that board that draws users in. You can observe this to be the case with Wizchan, which drew a /r9k/-style crowd, the myriad early imageboards that drew on /b/, lainchan which grew out of

V ## Admin 01/13/23 (Fri) 06:02:28 No. 11209
Can I get the opinion of anyone who rejects adding filters to basically everything.
In the case of someone saying 'troon' I would rather ban them or warn them in the situation that it's not appropriate.
Applying a wordfilter is basically a non-resolution and putting community in the hands of algorithms. A certain level of meta argument is important so that the site isn't in the hands of an moderator oligarchy.
Replacing such a word with something more appropriate is just masking bad intentions with acceptability. The choices of an individual serve as a red-flag to be ignored by others or for moderators to decide who could be from a place that is seen negatively in the eyes of the community.
For something like troon, it's masking an obvious case of an individual to be moderated with something softer. Making something unacceptable into acceptible and turning nice language into dogwhistles.
Applying wordfilters haphazardly is hazardous.
Just to recap what our existing filters are: (nevermind I can't bypass wordfilters as a mod) array('/\b(c)o(o+)m([^\W ]*)\b/i', function($ m){ $start = (ctype_upper($m[1]) ? "S" : "s") . "p"; $mid = str_repeat("e ", strlen($m[2 ])) . "rm"; $end = $m[3]; return $start . $mi d . $end; }, true); // 'true' means it's a regular e xpression Post too long. Click here to view the full text.

Hmmm... semi-transparent striped boxes... yeah this theme really wasn't meant to have anything under it.
Bleh. As a temporary solution (as this is a VERY temporary mermaid tail) you could add this to custom css:
COPYPASTE STARTS HERE
div.post.reply, input, textarea {
background: rgba(200, 200, 200, 1);
COPYPASTE ENDS HERE
You can change each of the '200' instances there closer to 255 to make the box lighter, or closer to 0 for darker.
You can also block the image url with an adblocker or something:
https://luna.kissu.moe/test/src/1624657593506.png Anything more involved isn't worth spending time on because it's not going to be there for very long. Sorry for the inconvenience since I didn't know there was a CSS like this.

Most imageboards have both, but that's less because it's a good design choice and more because everyone either uses or mimics the vichan, which itself (or more properly tinyboard) was just a clone of yotsuba with the 4chan x extension.
Taking tradition out of the equation, I feel like it's actually pretty poor design. You have two fairly prominent UI elements that both do the exact same thing. One of the two methods is generally better than the other, but it's hidden by default, while the inferior one is the first thing you see when you load the page.

And while I find them annoying, I don't think that you can just accumulate a board with posters who are always good 100% of the time. Surely there will be more people that in the future will be similar in that they will have their good and bad moments. And if /qa/ is to be a place where those types will get banned for being too kuso at times, then I think /jp/ should be a better fit for them. Please do realize that the boards are not identical and what is allowed on /jp/ does not need to be tolerated on /qa/, and that would be what keeps /qa/ from degenerating into ota.

For starters, I think both parties in this case suffer from immeasurable egos, that will surely never allow one to get along with the other. That being said, I think from an admin's position the proper path to take would be to not pursue some personal grudge or entertain the belief that you should moderate the poster and not the post. Call it idealistic if you want, but moderation based on what the posters see is much more preferable than based on what you can see, and I'm fairly sure that most people here would rather moderation be more clear and related to the board than not.
>>5430 That's not exactly 4chan levels, retarded, it's a bit of a step further. 4chan mods don't even bring their off-site baggage to users on the site for the most part, they just hold vendettas against posters for what they've posted. You've deluded yourself into believe that you know what's best for everyone when you most certainly don't based on how contested most of your decisions are (even if some of them work out in the end). A good approach to being a competent administrator is to not approach moderation as something to do for yourself, but rather as a way to carry out the will of the community, and you most certainly are not doing that with these actions. It's rather childish and unbecoming of someone of your status. Really take a step back and try to look at this from a perspective other than your own to realize just how foolish this sounds to anyone who isn't yourself. You may think yourself so high and mighty for removing who you solely perceive as someone on the level of the worst imageboard schizos, but in reality you're being petulant and infuriated with someone whose personality directly clashes with your own.
This really does help to clear up what I think that /jp/ should be. It should be a place free of your stalking and arrogance, where people can feel more free to say whatever without triggering the overbearing admin over the accumulation of their posts he's been stalking. I couldn't really define it in my thread because the examples didn't really exist, but you've allowed for everyone to see the thought process of yours I considered while writing it. It doesn't really need to be as free as I stated in the post, people have certainly made legitimate arguments against that, but it should be free for anyone to post and have their posts be considered independe

Vermin, you might really want to consider doing something about the whole rebuild on deletion thing. Although a CP ad was deleted, because there's no rebuild on delete, the post stayed on the homepage until someone makes a new post. Which, if you figure someone posts CP in the middle of the night when nobody's posting... Not a very good scenario to say the least.

It adds another question of how to moderate the site. I need to consider the possible cases where people upload content others make money off of for a purpose that isn't educational.
Useless to most people, but the search feature is an aspect of kissu's frontend-redesign on the homepage.
https://kissu.moe/search.php?search =vermin&board=none However basic modifications aren't enough to fix this shitshow to work across the site. The list of things that vichan fails at grows even larger.

What tales have your minds woven while you lie in slumber?
As for myself, I just had a dream in which I died. It started off with my father taking over a trip I planned out with a friend and making the experience somewhat uncomfortable. During said trip I uncovered a trait about them I hadn't known amd also apparently they had a medium sized youtube channel they'd mostly put behind them. Apparently it was discovered by a background check my father ran. Which is odd considering they were concealing themself within a black cloth the whole time. This did strike me as odd as the person in question doesn't really seem to care much. But, after that revelation I wad able to connect with their reasoning and appreciate them a bit more.
Then the dream shifted over to me and my family at the shore. We were going to enjoy the beach and also get some food first. I was looking at the donuts in a display case wondering why we weren't eating those but they insisted on going out to the downstairs breakfast bakery that I don't think would work in real life given that it'd be so easily flooded. But back on track, I'd decided to stay home and just sit in one of our trucks. Which is when another family showed up and started putting stuff in the house starting to treat it like they owned it. I told them to stop and that they didn't have any rental here at the time, but they didn't listen. The head of the house, some wicked lady I presume started to get really aggressive with me and yelling at me telling me to get lost. I was trying to tell her that my family owned the house when one of her relatives came after me and I defended myself with a wooden plank, bashing their skull. I don't quite remember the rest of the altercation but afterwards everyone was under the beds in the house and fairly injured. One of the younger children clearly had enough as she desperately reached for the shotgun besides her loaded it before firing it into the vicinity of the matriarch. Right after this she fired the second shot at her too. The matriarch keeled over and died as she asked her daughter how did she know she should've shot twice to make sure she finished the deed? The echo reverberated throughout the town and siblings/relatives of mine came to check on the situation.
I tried guiding them in or calling out to them however they mysteriously ignored me no matter how hard I tried to get their attention. I found out why soon enough as I saw my lifeless corpse on th

>>107570 So, then, would you say that for someone who sages by default would be value-neutral? Kissu for a long time was that way, but vermin changed it. This seems to me to be a reframing of sage to be purposefully negative, rather than of the same "value" as age.
Anonymous 04/22/23 (Sat) 21:34:28 No. 107245
I would it argue it does inherently hold some negative value.
Visibility is immensely valuable in any medium of communication, that much is obvious. Internet platforms by and large are engineered to notify at least one person when a reply is made, and that's a good thing. Everyone will tell you so. It's also designed to be the default, with forms of deactivating notifications through filters or options as a secondary measure. BBSs' most basic form of notification is a bump.
The negativity of sage is twofold: one, it denies this positive thing, two, it's a conscious choice one has to go out of their way to make, it's
not the default and requires purposeful action. Purposefully denying visibility. You wouldn't have to clarify that it's a polite sage and there would be no weight in remarking that it's rude if it was value-neutral from the beginning. A site's culture may
consider it to be closer to a neutral value, but it will never purely be so. In
>>>/megu/804 , it is argued that sage should be used because the posts in that thread (which are off-topic) are worse than on-topic ones and do not deserve visibility. Self-denial is explicitly advised.
In the larger context of the internet, imageboards stand out in lacking mechanics for self-moderation. It's barebones even compared to a button that makes a number go down and nothing else. There's nothing you can do to affect another person's post other than filing a report (which may not do anything), you can set up filters but it's not even possible to block an individual anonymous user. The closest thing anyone has is sage's negativity, it follows that it's paradoxical to bump while attempting to self-moderate, thus you find sage being obligatory
because of this negative value, this denial. In a similar vein, LinkedIn and MAL users have retooled the curious reaction as a dislike, making the former remove that option not unlike how 4chan removed visible sage. The thirst for repression is real.
I very much agree with ^ in that the sage part is secondary to the bombing itself, but I don't believe it to be the root cause of all of this.
Also worth noting how it used to be saved in Kissu's options field until very recently, when Vermin changed it to return to age as the default. It appears to have worked.

I think I'd probably want to swap out an SSD for a nice WD black HDD, yeah, but aside from that I can't really figure out any other issues I'd have with this setup. Best part is that 3k price tag is probably cheap enough for vermin to not feel insane pressure taking care of it so that problem sorts itself out nicely. Can probably get started on that as soon as I have a good day...

>>106484 I think for perfomance/cost I want to be somewhere around prosumer and enterprise. Although, I'm not really sure how much better enterprise would be once we have the next generation of GPUs out which are set to outclass most everything on the market, so I'd probably stick with Prosumer for now to reduce how much we need to spend on stuff that may just get upgraded.
In terms of game servers I think we'll just do hosting one game at a time, not like we're going to be running 2 /qa/ games at once. For SD, I think we want a fairly fast setup to reduce headaches on the user-end (assuming multiple people will be using it at similar times) so I'd probably go with the 4090 option.
For storage I would probably want a fairly large HDD to hold whatever necessary files we may need, and then maybe a nice SSD for the main system and AI generation (Although maybe there's a way to store resulting images in the HDD without affecting the speed of generation...). The RAID consideration is probably a good idea, but I've never set up one myself so I don't really know what it does besides serve as a backup.
>A 200MB/s 3.5" HDD is generally going to be just as fast a 5000MB/s PCIe 4.0 x4 NVME SSD if our network connection is 200MB/s Maybe that's true for transferring over the net but when it comes to actually writing stuff onto the SSD is that really the case? I've heard somewhere that a fast SSD can actually improve speeds somehow but this may just be gibberish I've heard online.
>Finally: >1. What sort of operating system would we plan on using? >2. Would this server stay as-is once it's built, or would we want future expand-ability? Now this is the part where I completely give up any thoughts and opinions of my own and transfer all my decision-making onto vermin. I really have no idea here.

>>106477 Stable Diffusion already works off of a queue, so that shouldn't be an issue.
>>106479 >I don't know anything about managing a server and would probably prefer vermin be able to fix whatever issues may arise. Depending on the level of complexity we're talking about, some type of out-of-band management would be ideal for this. Server motherboards and some workstations will have "IPMI" which allows managing a computer and viewing its status across a network. It also allows advanced features such as being able to turn on a computer and even access the BIOS without being physically in the same location. The more "enthusiast", but DIY solution would be a PiKVM: essentially the same thing as an IPMI motherboard, but based off of a raspberry pi that you then plug into the motherboard headers (for power on, power off and reset), a USB port, and a HDMI port.
Now, depending on how complex the setup we're talking about is, and how much performance (and cost) we would want, there are a few different routes to consider:
1. Server-level hardware - reaching into the Enterprise realm, likely making use of a lot of old server equipment.
2. Prosumer - High end consumer hardware.
3. Minimum viable product - few generations out of date to cost-optimize.
So... We should ask ourselves what our requirements are.
1. For game servers, are we just hosting a single server at a time and shutting it down once activity falls off, or are we keeping them online indefinitely?
2. For stable diffuion, what sort of performance do we want? Is 4090 performance necessary (2 seconds to generate a 512x512), or is 3060-level performance okay (~30 seconds)?

With the popularity of AI voice cloning and eleven labs AI going payed, I decided to look into some of the offline runnable alternatives. The most popular one or alteast easiest to setup, seems to be Tortoise-TTS. It works okay enough and has some pretrained models the author directs you to use. There's a a guide and git repo someone setup that provides this service with a web interface
https://rentry.org/AI-Voice-Cloning The biggest issue I and many others have with tortoise is that the main author won't release a guide or overview of the process he went through to train his model. Simply saying if you're smart enough you can figure it out. Kinda leaves people at in impass for actually using this program as an alternative to eleven labs.
I've had some minor success with one of the alternatives (unofficial) VALL-E,
https://github.com/enhuiz/vall-e It's taken me a bit of dependency chasing and cobbling together a separate PC to install linux on (the DeepSpeed dependacny has been a nightmare to get working on windows) but, I've actually been able to get a "decent" output with a 3060 12gb card and about a day of training on ~7.4k couple sec audio files ripped from Vermintide 2. I'm not an expert in ML but the result I got with training a model from scratch with this limited data set and a "low powered" card make me optimistic for VALL-E's potential. I didn't really have to know much about machine learning, just how to install various dependacnies and 3rd party utilities.
VALL-E is based on phonemes so the text to be synthesized is meant to be sounded out, I think. I don't know if there is a whole lot of prompt engineering that can be done with this program, though my current model is probably too limited and untrained to really test that out.
Attached is the voice I wanted to clone.

The matrix is kinda complicated. It's the transformation matrix that tells the game what a particular bone's rest pose(orientation) is in that particular bone's, "bone space". Bone space being a coordinate system with it's origin and orientation relative to a specific perspective at the bone in question.
I'm about 85% sure this is my issue as the particular file format that Fatshark(vermintide 2 devs) use in their workflow is a bsi and I've narrowed down the this issue to matrices called "inv_bind_matrix". From what I can tell it's supposed to be the bsi's version of inverse pose matrix.

Had a dream (possibly a conscious dream or whatever?) where I was playing ranked AoE2 with some people I know and we queued up for a map and it was megarandom and for some reason there were turrets at the beginning that were always shooting at our vils and buildings and making it hard to do stuff and I had to make a turret of my own to take down the others and keep repairing it with my vil or it'd cost me the game. After a bit of time I was getting frustrated that I kept forgetting to queue up more vils or make more houses so I could stop getting housed and age up and then vermin sent a whole bunch of cavalry somehow towards the enemy side that for some reason already had horse cart archers and I was left wondering why I was so far behind and cursed my poor micro abilities as the last turret went down and hated the game and didn't want to suck bad anymore so I woke up.

Had a really bad dream.
For whatever reason, Vermin was compelled to turn Kissu into a Discord clique, and made a "Kissu Discord Server." The server quickly expanded with many people, and seemingly complete strangers became not only mods of this Discord server, but also of Kissu itself. Meanwhile, upon flicking back to Kissu after witnessing the horror of a Discord channel springing full of people, the site was also transformed. As a clear cut-off for no longer taking any criticism, /b/ was deleted and a /q/ board took it's place. Sure enough, as I looked at it, it was filled with mindless spam, the kind that already clogs up /trans/. On /qa/, threads were moving extremely quickly through the catalog, and posters were casually referring to one another by their Discord handles in threads. In a desperate attempt to see if the IRCs existed as a place of last refuge, all of them were deleted.
After becoming extremely distraught, I decided to get off the computer. My grandparents were visiting, but my mood very greatly soured my interactions with them (although, I dislike them for personal reasons). They had made pancakes, and they tasted awful, and I just to get away from everyone. After walking off, I decided to take a shower. Our bathroom was really big, and contained two showers: one smaller and more square, and a larger shower that was more rectangular. Both were against one another, and had a half-mirrored (semi-transparent mirror finish) glass divider that faded to clear about 2/3 of a foot surrounding the outsider of the pane, with frosted glass surrounding the outwards facing panes. I decided to walk around to the smaller shower to relax, but was then harassed a short time later by a girl who had decided to take a shower in the other shower. She began shouting about me, even though I was there first... And then started making disingenuous "thank you"s for simply turning around (the irony being, for her to tell this, she had stuck her face completely in the transparent area, and was glaring through, staring at naked me).
After that, and feeling no less stressed, I decided to look back at this Discord channel to see if anything had changed. For all my time spent on /qa/ before it had even became 2D/Random, I was rewarded with the Discord role, "Speedrunner" for having Discord open on 2 devices at once, out of a maximum of five. That really got to me. It would be one thing to at least be recognized as having been around, certain

>>73758 More to your concern I’m really only thinking about going for 5 unit types. Two low health normal units, two high health elite/armored units, and one large health monster unit. Analogous units in vermintide now are the slave rat and clan rat, the stormvermin and plague monk, the rat ogre. Aside from the special enemies and a second monster/large enemy this is the setup for the skaven faction in vermintide 2. The unit roaster for total warhammer is more than varied enough to provide enough units for that sort of setup.
I thought about trying with vermintide 1 first but I’m not sure if anybody got animations working for that one either and I need ask for a steam key to get access to the sdk currently they aren’t available (as in a few weeks ago they said they ran out and need to ask steam for more) but that shouldn’t be a problem as I think a few other active modders in the community have a few keys on hand.

>>73758 The thing with total warhamemr units is that modeling and animation work is already done. From what I've seen of total warhammer the attack animations while they aren't quite as varied as vermintide there's enough of them to cover atleast a couple of light and heavy attacks for each unit
There's also some good tools for extracting the whole model, skeleton, animations and all directly from the source for total warhammer so getting those files aren't a problem. The texutres might be a tad low resolution for vermintide's first person perspective but that's a secondary concern compared to enemy variety.
I've actually got a decent grasp for how to implement proper emissive and transparent texture layers for models in game.
While tedious the implementation of custom ai for the custom units is mostly straight forward and a lot can be used from existing code since the source scripts for vermintide 2 are available online.
This is the tomb scorpion from total warhammer, I've got it to replace the vermintide 2 pig unit. From what i've been able to tell it's just like the normal pig unit except it doesn't have animations or a ragdoll. The game registers it as an entity that you can kill and hit and whatnot all that's missing is the animations. I should be able to do this with other units/enemies as well but I'm starting with the pig as it doesn't move and only has two states that it every uses; idle and ragdoll(death).

>>73757 I guess if you can get importing example units (from vermintide 1?) working it'd be a first step in making the Total Warhammer units portable, but to take units from completely seperate genres and add them into the game seems like a really daunting task. Although I guess who knows, the units in L4D-like games are fairly simple so maybe a Total War unit fits into the class of units that'd actually be possible to have.
