Auto-gif can easily get annoying when people post gifs with a lot of action. You know, when you have something flashing at you from the corner of the eye. One of the many things I use an adblocker to avoid.
If you ad a checkbox to the file upload for the poster to verify that their gif is not "noisy" (for lack of a better term), then we can probably trust a community like kissu to not abuse it.

Yeah, it's a thing that works okay in chatrooms because it'll be out of view shortly after you see it, but here it tends to distract, either because I'm trying to read the post under it or because I leave the tab open on another monitor and have something dancing in the corner of my eye. It's fun for /secret/ shitposting, but I normally want control over movement the same way I want control over sound.
By request I moved some AI stuff from existing /ec/ threads into the "Misc AI thread" here >>>/ec/14196.
While kissu has some people enthusiastic about AI stuff (me mostly), /ec/ has generally been the exclusive domain of "traditional" human artists. AI stuff can easily crowd out real art since anyone can create 50 images of it in a few minutes (RIP sites like rule34.xxx), so on kissu itself it's best to corral it to designated areas so people can continue to celebrate artists and creative spirit and so on. This has generally been the understanding here without anyone saying so, but it's unfair to expect people to know this innately so I guess I'm saying it now in a semi-official manner.
If you ever want to talk about this stuff, I'd love to, as I'm one of a few dozen people on the planet with extensive experience creating SD merges. I think I've made 200gb of merges in the past week... but I digress. Let's keep human art threads clean of AI dumps.

>Would you really have prefered a catholic blog and a "I was banned from 4chan blog" instead of everything being put into one blog you can easily deal with?
Blogging in the blog thread makes me go "kimochii~". The youtube video could have gone in the random youtube thread or a new thread. I'd say seasonal boards for it but since we're going to try and ween away from those then... /secret/? The 4chan ban complaint, well, the guy already found a better place for it in the happenings thread (eh), although I think it could have been made on /jp/ or /secret/ at his discretion.
My stance on this stuff hasn't changed since >>>/secret/17562
it might be the site. Not sure what.
sometimes this error page shows up instead
What happens if you visit an /ec/ thread? (Thread chosen purely randomly >>>/ec/9800

YOU CAN'T VISIT THE KUON THREAD?!?! THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP
>>12700
Yes, you were generating the /ec/ sticky most likely

How is the [Expand] supposed to work? Is it supposed to show the whole thread or just up to a limit?
>>11013(OP)
Is it possible to turn off the portion of backlink hovering that adds a .hover-box class to posts instead of showing a floating view? Hence, when you hover over a backlink it will show a floating view of the post regardless of if that post is already on screen.
It's just kinda annoying :P

Also, why is the download and sauce links underneath images instead of next to the filename. I like the site, including the new UI - some strange decisions though.
As a half measure (and because I can't be bothered with js right now), I made the download link absolute and show when hovering the thumbnail.
>>12725
Some good points.
It shouldn't be showing the hover view in that situation. Perhaps an issue somewhere.
The no noko aspect might be getting a bit too un-inclusive. Since in the imageboard of old it would do this if you didn't put noko in the options.
The download button is kind of just a cosmetic feature. If I made this change then what about reverse image search? It's still down there and would look very clunky up top. Filename hover would make it jump around instead of stable. Plus you're ignoring mobile compatibility. Do people really want a download icon over every image? Isn't this also conflicting with Edge?
>>12726
Well, you don't like the UI it sounds like. The aim is to maintain good performance on a JavaScript rendered site. If you don't want a paged system then you want either a minimalist 4chan clone or you want a memory hog site. I suggest posting on 4chan for the experience you're after
>>12727
As I said, the hover solution was just to move it somewhere other than the bottom using just css. With a userscript, I would probably place the download & reverse image search buttons on the same line as the filename (no hover involved)
>>12728
These are just specific issues I have, the general UI is quite nice.
I don't want pages, this is one of the reasons I never used forums. I don't particularly care how much memory is required to display all posts on a single page as long as it's possible.
>If you don't want a paged system then you want either a minimalist 4chan clone or you want a memory hog site
What? The reason somebody might engage here is because of the people, the boards and the like. The pages have no bearing on this, it's just a bit annoying to click on the next page button and have replies strung across pages
It's pretty rare that people go back "pages" so it doesn't come up much. I think it works pretty well, but it does take some adjustment.

As far as I am aware, 4chanX never highlights posts does it? It always just previews the posts even if the post it right below it - which I like. Of course, a sidebar option would make sense to toggle the behaviour.
I just found the no-preview-if-the-post
Hey Verniy, now that people are returning to 4taba, the saboteur has gotten frustrated and started posting worse stuff. The latest batch has been left on there for days.
I understand that none of us are competent enough to add a report feature to its publically-accessible source code (I certainly might have if I were), and from what I've seen of stuff appearing and disappearing otherwise I know you've already tried to make a habit of visiting /all/ every day, but could you please look into getting a co-admin/moderator to help you look after the board?
You haven't got to give a complete stranger like myself VPS access or anything, just some internet friend or other you might actually trust. There's probably somebody who'd be willing right?
There hasn't been anything sitting there for days, but yes I've removed some repetitive illegal ads that have increased in amount each day. 4taba's moderation UI thing is very primitive as it was some guy's hobby project that he didn't intend to last for very long.
It's been the case that we check 4taba every day to remove stuff even though it traditionally gets a new real post once a month. It's kind of hard to find motivation for such actions as it feels like you're cleaning an empty guest house every day in the hope that someone will show up. But yeah, somehow it's becoming more active (which is good of course) so I guess I could start checking twice a day or something.
I see, I might have been melodramatic there calling it "days", it's just that I didn't really want to go back and specifically look to verify the post date.
I'm glad to hear it's two moderators too, that ought to be enough. You guys have been very proactive in getting rid of stuff otherwise, I guess an accidental lapse or two is understandable.
I've been having some weird troubles with my connection to kissu today, pages can take half or a full minute to load, same for images a couple megabytes big or even those with only a hundred kilobytes. It's not happening to me on any other site or with torrents, it's just Kissu.
What could be occurring here? It's super odd.
>>12777
The same thing happened to me a while ago, but it went back to normal after a few hours, so yeah.
bug where on the index page of /maho/ a bunch of replies between my latest reply and some random reply >>>/maho/1195 are not showing up
FALSE ALARM not bug i conflated the two threads >>>/maho/324 >>>/maho/843
are cutefilters a slippery sperme?
<- pic related is another option if it must be filtered
what if instead of a single frame for a thumbnail, linking to a video generates something like this as a thumbnail
New here.
What is your stance on 4chan?
Have you guys heard of wapchan? It's also pretty cool.
Please don't ban me if you have a rule against talking about other chans...
>>13096
Hello!
>What is your stance on 4chan?
Well, it's not a blanket hate or anything if that's what you mean. We have the same general rules as most other imageboards that try to be good, which means the worst of generic 4chan template shitposting isn't allowed. (buzzwords, frogs and wojaks, etc)
>Have you guys heard of wapchan?
Yes, the admin posted here about a month ago since we have a megathread to talk about imageboard news: >>>/qa/4165
We had talked about maybe interacting with each other with events and stuff, but everyone is a bit lazy.
>>13109
i brought it up before this but i think the post was put into /trans/
"legendary Japanese curry"
>>13117
also cute
someone make a checkbox poll about it
Also it's retarded to filter slop because it's not something like cutie that's got only a bit of interference with other words.
i already think about delicious meals all the time
even if you ignore the actual usage of the term... what better slang is there to describe it than slop
https://desuarchive.org/_/search/boards/a.qa/text/slop/order/asc/
but of course, because the use wasn't as frequent then, it wasn't legitimate, right?
'Slop' as a word has existed for a long time but people didn't use it as an umbrella term for "thing I don't like" until now. I remember it being used for low quality food. This isn't a result of people expanding their vocabulary, but rather the opposite effect of reducing language into as few words as possible. Where once you could think of different words for different situations, now you can simply call a variety of things slop and go about your day without thinking too hard.
Well, there's too much resistance here for it to happen. I still think filtering it to 'burger' would provide a lot of fun in the future, though.
But "burger" is already slang for American so when I complain about isekai burgers it'll sound like I'm talking about immigrants.
Using food terminology to describe media isn't anything new and the large quantity of mass-produced "content" with no artistic merit that gets pumped through the discussion chambers being described as what it is doesn't mean that description is being used incorrectly.
You guys are taking it too seriously. I'm suggesting to wordfilter slop because it would be cute and/or funny to hit this word that comes up fairly often on imageboards with an unexpected filter, not to make some grand statement about word use and what it means for society and why it's bad
