Finally started my "buyfag" life; albeit not anywhere near the level I've dreamt of, with only second hand stuff so far.
What anime goods have you bought /qa/?

A noodle stopper is a small figurine that you put on top of cup ramen to hold the lid in place.

      As >>134903 said, yep.
I've got a couple from FuRyU and they're not bad. But I definitely don't feel comfortable placing a PVC figure on a steaming cup of boiling water, so I don't use them for their intended purpose.

More powerful than you could possibly imagine. She can even do it while pouting. Pouts and question marks, a true kissu girl. She's so fun and cute that I could see myself getting a figure of her if I had the money. The anime should make her popular enough to get some figures I would hope, although it was already a cult hit with the manga.

Man fuck customs and their gay ass 25% duties. I had to cough up another $10 for them to deliver my figure, and I have some onaholes on the way too which costs way more and will undoubtedly be taxed as well. There used to be a $30 tax free limit on imported goods here but they scrapped that last year.

I have another package that's being assembled in Japan with mostly standard tastes. I will see if they open this too, and if so I might have to do something about some other stuff that will come for a third package

I was thinking that maybe the Japan-Rabbit branding targeted it as a possible source of confiscation materials. I think I'll try customizing my next delivery of tapestries to try and minimize the branding, but something in the delivery system auto-flagged it so I dunno what my options are if some of these items get looked at the wrong way. From what I gather they typically just confiscate materials that are too obscene and don't like to escalate beyond that.

Kinda surprised Canada let you have a wallscroll of a flat hairless girl in a school setting. You were unlucky to get customs, but lucky that the person let it pass.

He's probably right that they're just opening every package and checking for fent. If they are then they're most likely doing a hastily job checking everything and if there's no fent just sending it through because they're too overworked to care.

From what I read they tend to flag first time imports. And I don't think they actually got to know "what" the tapestries were, but they knew they were tapestries, and they probably could deduce it was pornographic based on some other things that were layed out at the top of the package. And they tore open some sealed bags to see what was inside. They didn't open any of the tapestries though.

People get in lots of trouble for actual sex stuff, but I think they were just concerned about fentanyl.

yeah, i might need to find some way to quickly cover them. Maybe another string on the lower pipe, but some are double sided.
Have to figure out how to prevent people from looking into my appartment too if I make a mistake and get the angles messed up on the walls far from my bed.

Still have a bunch more to cover the majority of walls.. eventually a display cabinet for figures and other stuff.

I guess I'll know when these land somewhere. If they land in Cincinnati and I incur tariffs then I'm going to be sending out emails to all the JapanRabbit shipping options to see who's actually trying to minimize consumer impact. I have one last package which will have a high declared value.

I don't think they took anything out but they unwrapped bubble wrap on one pair. I dunno. Makes me more nervous to ship in anything explicit. If you're wondering how the CBSA determines if something is prohibited, they have two people and both have to agree that it's explicit and should be confescated. Then you can contest the results.

I'm not sure how it goes when you fly across with bagage but they probably just randomly check carryon and only open checked bags in serious situations...

That's 2 / 3 which have been inspected. If you objectively think about it, then I imagine that either DHL or JapanRabbit are missweighing the items getting them flagged.

I think tapestries probably get flagged with higher probability. The long cylindrical rods wrapped in fabric for Xray, higher prices and lower weight to price ratio probably causes the system to flag it as a potentially risky item. So they open it up and just do some checks to see that it's nothing serious.
Given that the two items opened by CBSA were tapestry shipments while the other was not.. and given how this isn't a common occurrence on Reddit makes me think it's about package weight and how tapestries look on an xray

For this person who is asking about https://booth.pm/en/items/6363254 on GNFOS . I would say they are good quality. I believe what the Japs mean by double suede is a better quality fabric than Suede.

These tap I bought has really nice fabric and print quality https://booth.pm/en/items/6473566 https://booth.pm/en/items/5972057
Meanwhile something like this had poor quality https://booth.pm/en/items/6413705 and is on polyester suede.
https://booth.pm/ja/items/6443158 This one's image quality is fine, but they folded it and the fabric is pretty rough.

So the gist here is that the image should look crisp(hard to know sometimes) and it should be printed on W Suede.
The video I posted has a good guide

For some reason pixiv has started cropping the images of a lot more lolicon items.
It's not like you can't buy them or if when shipping them in they're on the customs manifest, but it seems like there's a bit more government intervention in the transportation of physical merch out of Japan.

      https://foxmoonbow.booth.pm/items/6848347

It's not atypical that they have to do this, but is interesting to see that it's an active policy that's enforced.

buying from japan is really expensive when you take in VAT and shipping... For all my stuff I end up paying twice basically. I have the money, but it's still annoying as heck.

Like for decorating all the walls of my bedroom with tapestries it's probably like 600$ and I could still go further... then importing has probably been about 300$ on top of that... then you could add on accrylics, dakis and so on.

So if I wanted to do a big shopping spree of japanese stuff if I won the lottery it would be better in the end to just go to Japan and carry back 1400$ of stuff, pay the VAT as a good citizen and go on your way.
The other cost is that the government has opened my packages like 3 times now. They seem to have stopped and I think they didn't understand what tapestry rolls looked like, but if you violate local laws you could go in jail or confescates it..

No you don't. Maybe if you look obviously underaged or are like wearing a school uniform or something then they'd ask, but otherwise it just works by the honour system. Plus, they don't want to have to figure out how to ask you in English and to decipher your ID any more than you do, so being a gaijin basically gives you a free pass in situations like that.

The second one in the top row is the catalogue. Other than that, almost all of them are doujinshi, with the exception of the top left one (tankobon) and the far bottom left (illustration book). The pair on the right are doujinshi but without words IIRC.
A large portion of the stuff at Comitia was illustration books and other stuff of that sort, but I don't really have much interest in buying that kind of stuff unless it is from an artist I really like (and there were only two artists there that I am familiar with; neither selling anything I wanted), so that's why I didn't get many.
Also worth mentioning that Comitia is only for original works, not parodies, which is why none of the characters are recognizable.
      >>154847
The two on the far bottom left are both by circle Far From Ok. One, Tsukumo Oujo, is an illustration book, the other, Ame, is a doujinshi of sorts. I thought the art-style was really cool, which is why I got them. The third black-and-white one on the bottom left, Atama Occult, is by a different circle (Maki Harigane), and I got it mostly because the printing seemed somewhat unusual. I haven't read it yet, but it looks to be a horror manga.

Went to the comic book store in the next town over today to buy a pop up parade suiggy figgy but it had been removed from stock. I was looking forward to seeing what kind of panties she was wearing...

You can't have your panties on and sniff them

Bloomers. I guess that's to be expected. Would have been nice if she wore some nice mature black pantsu though.

Mostly a dud bunch. I got some items to support an erogame dev which were average. A touhou patchouli print has printing bands so it's defective. Two porno ones are cencored in the final product which is typically unusual.
But it's worthwhile because Tony prints are very high quality

These two display pieces are also very nice. One from a game. The other an original
