At some point I propose servermin up the damage that players do to enemies. It's absurd how much HP the helicopter has considering the shit fucking rewards it drops most of the time. Often you kick up as much dust as vermin does.
You say /secret/ is dead and there's nothing in it, but I had fun making >>>/secret/33493. I have fun using kissu, not in an indifferent "oh well it's all we have" way, I like being here, interacting with this particular group of people. I don't mind if no one replies to my reviews, it's proven that some people do read and like them, and even if that weren't the case I enjoy sharpening my own thoughts just like I enjoy reading others' on this or that. I don't hide anything, because I want to make as much use of the site as possible.
If you leave for good, you'll just be the one losing out the most. I don't want that, I greatly appreciate your contributions, and I want you to have as much fun as anyone else. Ironically, you would probably find a kindred spirit in vermin when it comes to reviving those random thoughts threads since he's been the one behind any protection of the blog. And maybe you didn't intend to use the 'kimo' thing as a pseudo-report. But you certainly made a meta show of it at some point where you said also said kissu is declining and it set vern off because the userbase was reacting negatively towards these posts that were in large part by an individual and then more people as the kimo became a sort of comedic thing people were playing with by baiting out. /jp/ has always leaned more heavily on anime/random but that's because there's a fair bit of people that watch seasonals, it doesn't stop anyone from making actual 2D/Random threads like:

My browser must have been freaking out because I remember those threads and they weren't spam or anything. Anyways, the Russian invasion of Ukraine took place about a month prior to this screenshot. If I remember correctly, at this time discussion was still on the seasonal boards and hadn't yet been moved to /secret/, so this is close to the state I remember. Admittedly, it's not at all a complete view of what I remember liking the most, but it's the really the only example I have saved. I was still discontent with the amount of teenshit being posted and had a bunch of threads hidden because this was after /secret/ became the meta dumping zone with "no rules". You can see that if you look at the threads. Most of the them were meta. Very different from /secret/ now. But, again, I already disliked this /secret/.
I liked the threads that were emblematic of what it was before the "meta era", and you can see remnants of that:
"I like making things, but it's hard to find inspiration sometimes"
"People talk about 'Christian values' and being a 'good Christian'" (I think I posted this thread. I remember regretting it later because it became a religion shitfest. I think I made a similar thread later on some time last year about pagan iconography in Christian art, but I'm pretty sure that one became a shitfest too...)
"me and /secret/ taking it easy" (pretty sure I posted this thread. I remember finding a nice artist on twitter and would periodically post in the thread with new posts of little alligators and ducks)
"What do people mean when they tell other to do their own 'research'?"

You can't simultaneously hold in your head that you wish /qa/ were faster, that it wasn't filled with giant generals, and at the same time rip out the parts that gave it that spontaneity. >>11981 I think it's fair to say that it creates an atmosphere of people aping ota/gnfos since that's the kind of stuff familiar to posters here's that in the "do not post" category. But I wouldn't say that the imitation stuff is necessarily all bad, or can only be bad. Back on 4/qa/ it existed too and eventually lead to the flourishing blog thread with the imitation eventually becoming its own thing detached from the source. Without a truly terrible reason behind it I find those posts more harmless than anything. Somewhat pointless noise in an ocean of differing posts.
I think when we both talk about notoriety of the board, we have different thoughts about what the notoriety stage of it would look like. Your thoughts are probably more of typical lawless boards that all share the same culture. To me I'm more thinking notoriety from the potential arguments that could generate from it, alongside a healthy dose of moderator fuckery and experimental board design that is all fair for a board not meant to be the main culture of a site. The first is probably the hardest for this site to achieve and is probably what keeps my pipe dreams pipe dreams because of the fact that we'd need people that have the fight in them to really get passionate and go on for hundreds of posts on an argument, and I think most people still around are a bit more mellowed out than that. A small gripe I have is that we've driven off a small share of really aggressive posters that'd probably be up for passionately debating their ideas online because of the propensity they had for drama, but that's in the past and I don't think there's much we can do about that now. The mod fun should be self-explanatory with how much we mess with /secret/, and when it comes to experimental I've got a few ideas up my sleeve like handing over control of /secret/ to a new person each week to see how that goes (like /z/). The main issue with a lot of these is that for me the experiments would probably be better served with a larger population so I'm not sure how much I want to invest in them if they wouldn't really have much of an impact. But yeah, I sorta see the topic of notoriety in a more positive light and I can understand seeing what we've done so far as trying to encourage a kuso culture on /secret/. I do admit there's been some flaws with that, but I think it's gotten the board to a state in which expect

Those contentions between posters could probably even spawn its own meta too. "I can't say I really miss 4/qa/ as a whole, especially the belligerence and necessity of maintaining excessive filters"
>Maybe you or someone else said it that "/secret/ shouldn't just be the shit board" Indeed.
>it should be the board where people say whatever comes to mind regardless of whether it fits in line with the culture of the site I still maintain, "you will simply encourage less desirable behavior that is not accepted on other boards." As you yourself conceded, I also believe there are too few users for it to function the way you're describing. In my opinion, the few number of users limits it by reinforcing the negative stereotype of it being the shitpost board, which itself is hard to overcome because there are not more users to challenge that perception and transform it into something unique. Instead, it merely acts as a foil to Kissu itself, representing an awkward melding of the posting characteristics of other spinoffs like gnfos -- because again, you're not going to eek out anything new from posters who are already attracted here, you're just going to encourage things that they wouldn't post on other boards.
I also wholeheartedly disagree with the "notoriety theory" mentioned in #qa, and alluded to in other places. That being, users are a attracted to a particular board due to notoriety, and although, "you're attracting a large amount of eyes on your site it's not just shitters that'll come over [...] it'll also be just normal posters that come to check out what the buzz is about". As is the case with every imageboard I have browsed, those sites that have an identifiable lighthouse of a board that attracts users, in every case the additional boards that the site hosts are not purely related to the topic of the board, but instead have the inflected mannerisms and posting behavior of that board that draws users in. You can observe this to be the case with Wizchan, which drew a /r9k/-style crowd, the myriad early imageboards that drew on /b/, lainchan which grew out of

vermin's rusty trombone
V ## Admin 01/13/23 (Fri) 06:02:28 No. 11209
Can I get the opinion of anyone who rejects adding filters to basically everything.
In the case of someone saying 'troon' I would rather ban them or warn them in the situation that it's not appropriate.
Applying a wordfilter is basically a non-resolution and putting community in the hands of algorithms. A certain level of meta argument is important so that the site isn't in the hands of an moderator oligarchy.
Replacing such a word with something more appropriate is just masking bad intentions with acceptability. The choices of an individual serve as a red-flag to be ignored by others or for moderators to decide who could be from a place that is seen negatively in the eyes of the community.
For something like troon, it's masking an obvious case of an individual to be moderated with something softer. Making something unacceptable into acceptible and turning nice language into dogwhistles.
Applying wordfilters haphazardly is hazardous.
Just to recap what our existing filters are: (nevermind I can't bypass wordfilters as a mod) array('/\b(c)o(o+)m([^\W ]*)\b/i', function($ m){ $start = (ctype_upper($m[1]) ? "S" : "s") . "p"; $mid = str_repeat("e ", strlen($m[2 ])) . "rm"; $end = $m[3]; return $start . $mi d . $end; }, true); // 'true' means it's a regular e xpression Post too long. Click here to view the full text.

COPYPASTE STARTS HERE
div.post.reply, input, textarea {
background: rgba(200, 200, 200, 1);
COPYPASTE ENDS HERE
You can change each of the '200' instances there closer to 255 to make the box lighter, or closer to 0 for darker.
You can also block the image url with an adblocker or something:

Taking tradition out of the equation, I feel like it's actually pretty poor design. You have two fairly prominent UI elements that both do the exact same thing. One of the two methods is generally better than the other, but it's hidden by default, while the inferior one is the first thing you see when you load the page.

And while I find them annoying, I don't think that you can just accumulate a board with posters who are always good 100% of the time. Surely there will be more people that in the future will be similar in that they will have their good and bad moments. And if /qa/ is to be a place where those types will get banned for being too kuso at times, then I think /jp/ should be a better fit for them. Please do realize that the boards are not identical and what is allowed on /jp/ does not need to be tolerated on /qa/, and that would be what keeps /qa/ from degenerating into ota.

For starters, I think both parties in this case suffer from immeasurable egos, that will surely never allow one to get along with the other. That being said, I think from an admin's position the proper path to take would be to not pursue some personal grudge or entertain the belief that you should moderate the poster and not the post. Call it idealistic if you want, but moderation based on what the posters see is much more preferable than based on what you can see, and I'm fairly sure that most people here would rather moderation be more clear and related to the board than not.
>>5430 That's not exactly 4chan levels, retarded, it's a bit of a step further. 4chan mods don't even bring their off-site baggage to users on the site for the most part, they just hold vendettas against posters for what they've posted. You've deluded yourself into believe that you know what's best for everyone when you most certainly don't based on how contested most of your decisions are (even if some of them work out in the end). A good approach to being a competent administrator is to not approach moderation as something to do for yourself, but rather as a way to carry out the will of the community, and you most certainly are not doing that with these actions. It's rather childish and unbecoming of someone of your status. Really take a step back and try to look at this from a perspective other than your own to realize just how foolish this sounds to anyone who isn't yourself. You may think yourself so high and mighty for removing who you solely perceive as someone on the level of the worst imageboard schizos, but in reality you're being petulant and infuriated with someone whose personality directly clashes with your own.
This really does help to clear up what I think that /jp/ should be. Vermin, you might really want to consider doing something about the whole rebuild on deletion thing. Although a CP ad was deleted, because there's no rebuild on delete, the post stayed on the homepage until someone makes a new post. Which, if you figure someone posts CP in the middle of the night when nobody's posting... Not a very good scenario to say the least.

It adds another question of how to moderate the site. I need to consider the possible cases where people upload content others make money off of for a purpose that isn't educational.
Useless to most people, but the search feature is an aspect of kissu's frontend-redesign on the homepage.

Look, there is MASSIVE differences between people. Yes. And there's even some that are at least seemingly on my level of loyalty (but then they lack any kind of adventure spirit for whatever reason), some that have great adventure spirit, humor, sense of life, etc, but choose to lie about their intentions and generally don't care to be real ones, then there's the guy I mentioned who has a big beautiful heart AND understands fun and adventure (not so much humor, but nevermind that) but he's way too retarded to even make sentences, so communication is slow, inefficient and there much fewer things we can do together that are actually all that interesting. Mostly just surface and simple stuff...
None of this is helped by the fact that I am cognitively in ~ top 0.1 percentile or higher.
Yeah I don't go out to meet many new ppl, I'm sure there are plenty that I would admire out of the 8 billion, but it's just such a unsatisfactory and uncomfortable process to start caring about someone and invest in someone and be treated like garbage which is what pretty much everyone does - treat themselves and others like garbage. I don't fancy that much, so for the most part I just stay respectful and stay out of it. Luckily, I have gotten much better at telling who is who, so I get out before getting hurt or having to deal with any bullshit. My life is much better than it has ever been tbh. I don't remember everything properly, but here's what I do remember:
¥Being on a trip somewhere with the whole father side extended family. ¥Remembering that the trip had happened before, as well as everything that was happening/was going to happen in the trip. ¥Being in the elevator with a cousin and noticing he was shorter than before, thinking of mentioning it, but remembering something about him being amputated and not mentioning it. ¥"vermin" (don't know how he looks so didn't see a person, just someone who I knew to be vermin) verbally assaulting me while displaying he knows who I am, and knows which posts are mine... The lore was that our whole family was getting hunted down by another family, but not blatantly, discretely. They'd fuck with the elevator, release poison bugs inside our house, send a girl from their family to seduce and drug a male from our family, etc.
Another fun dream.

Let me enumerate, to make a point: first you have a bat just moving down and pretending to rotate by slowly shifting its texture towards the left, then it's a 3D model doing it, then Deadshot standing still under the rain, a living bat which admittedly looks nice, the static prison they slowly zoom into, now it's Peacemaker standing in the rain with minimal movement, Harley isn't moving either, Clayface I like, King Shark is completely flat and again slowly moving towards the right, buncha bones slightly rotating, the tiny fetish also slowly rotates insode of more still bones, the enchantress looks up, da Jokah smiles... It's slow not just in movement but in the time it takes compared to other OP/EDs, which is
over fifty seconds . Across all of this, the camera is staying still. It's at most zooming into things or slowly panning. It's a lot of nothing, it attempts to introduce its cast one at a time with a single shot each but there's practically no meaning to it. Why do Peacemaker and Deadshot do the exact same thing when they're completely different characters? If you want to hint at a tragic anything, why not use something beyond rain=sad by actually reflecting past or future events? The only one I can say I like is Clayface, contrasting a sickly-looking mug and creeping mud against his good looks elsewhere. Some of them have good motion, but it's still extremely simple and takes more than half the OP to do, for the sake of what? Giving you a conveyor belt of portraits? It's very poor for a gallery.
So nearly 2/3rds of the OP consists of displaying one thing at a time with largely simple movement, and the other third is people... moving, without much coherence.
Cloud girl is falling down, the dragon winds up his breath attack and then without animating it cuts to the flames hitting a water tank, but why? There's no one there, only bricks fall from it. Then the characters are falling... from somewhere that isn't the tank, a guy flies in front of a cloud, Katana is on her own far away standing on.... something, looking at... some other thing, and then the crew runs across nondescript terrain, fleeing from... another thing we don't see, if it's the dragon then they should've included it in the shot. The interesting thing is that at a glance it does strike me as more flexible:
>Defence recognises that there are both positive and negative aspects to having animals in the workplace. >As a general principle, Defence does not support the bringing of pet animals into the workplace; where it is allowed, bringing them into the workplace is a privilege, and Defence personnel must treat it as such. >The local policy decision to allow animals to be brought onto or kept on the Defence estate and which premises (including clubs etc.) rests with the CO / HoE. If animals are to be allowed, a local policy and rules should be developed and promulgated which defines... So yeah, if I'm getting it right, it seems like it's more of a Canada thing. Interesting.

The matrix is kinda complicated. It's the transformation matrix that tells the game what a particular bone's rest pose(orientation) is in that particular bone's, "bone space". Bone space being a coordinate system with it's origin and orientation relative to a specific perspective at the bone in question.
I'm about 85% sure this is my issue as the particular file format that Fatshark(vermintide 2 devs) use in their workflow is a bsi and I've narrowed down the this issue to matrices called "inv_bind_matrix". From what I can tell it's supposed to be the bsi's version of inverse pose matrix.

Had a dream (possibly a conscious dream or whatever?) where I was playing ranked AoE2 with some people I know and we queued up for a map and it was megarandom and for some reason there were turrets at the beginning that were always shooting at our vils and buildings and making it hard to do stuff and I had to make a turret of my own to take down the others and keep repairing it with my vil or it'd cost me the game. After a bit of time I was getting frustrated that I kept forgetting to queue up more vils or make more houses so I could stop getting housed and age up and then vermin sent a whole bunch of cavalry somehow towards the enemy side that for some reason already had horse cart archers and I was left wondering why I was so far behind and cursed my poor micro abilities as the last turret went down and hated the game and didn't want to suck bad anymore so I woke up.

Had a really bad dream.
For whatever reason, Vermin was compelled to turn Kissu into a Discord clique, and made a "Kissu Discord Server." The server quickly expanded with many people, and seemingly complete strangers became not only mods of this Discord server, but also of Kissu itself. Meanwhile, upon flicking back to Kissu after witnessing the horror of a Discord channel springing full of people, the site was also transformed. As a clear cut-off for no longer taking any criticism, /b/ was deleted and a /q/ board took it's place. Sure enough, as I looked at it, it was filled with mindless spam, the kind that already clogs up /trans/. On /qa/, threads were moving extremely quickly through the catalog, and posters were casually referring to one another by their Discord handles in threads. In a desperate attempt to see if the IRCs existed as a place of last refuge, all of them were deleted.
After becoming extremely distraught, I decided to get off the computer. My grandparents were visiting, but my mood very greatly soured my interactions with them (although, I dislike them for personal reasons). They had made pancakes, and they tasted awful, and I just to get away from everyone. After walking off, I decided to take a shower. Our bathroom was really big, and contained two showers: one smaller and more square, and a larger shower that was more rectangular. Both were against one another, and had a half-mirrored (semi-transparent mirror finish) glass divider that faded to clear about 2/3 of a foot surrounding the outsider of the pane, with frosted glass surrounding the outwards facing panes. I decided to walk around to the smaller shower to relax, but was then harassed a short time later by a girl who had decided to take a shower in the other shower. She began shouting about me, even though I was there first... And then started making disingenuous "thank you"s for simply turning around (the irony being, for her to tell this, she had stuck her face completely in the transparent area, and was glaring through, staring at naked me).
After that, and feeling no less stressed, I decided to look back at this Discord channel to see if anything had changed. For all my time spent on /qa/ before it had even became 2D/Random, I was rewarded with the Discord role, "Speedrunner" for having Discord open on 2 devices at once, out of a maximum of five. That really got to me. It would be one thing to at least be recognized as having been around, certain

>>73758 More to your concern I’m really only thinking about going for 5 unit types. Two low health normal units, two high health elite/armored units, and one large health monster unit. Analogous units in vermintide now are the slave rat and clan rat, the stormvermin and plague monk, the rat ogre. Aside from the special enemies and a second monster/large enemy this is the setup for the skaven faction in vermintide 2. The unit roaster for total warhammer is more than varied enough to provide enough units for that sort of setup.
I thought about trying with vermintide 1 first but I’m not sure if anybody got animations working for that one either and I need ask for a steam key to get access to the sdk currently they aren’t available (as in a few weeks ago they said they ran out and need to ask steam for more) but that shouldn’t be a problem as I think a few other active modders in the community have a few keys on hand.
Anonymous 06/24/21 (Thu) 09:20:42 No. 73759
>>73758 The thing with total warhamemr units is that modeling and animation work is already done. From what I've seen of total warhammer the attack animations while they aren't quite as varied as vermintide there's enough of them to cover atleast a couple of light and heavy attacks for each unit
There's also some good tools for extracting the whole model, skeleton, animations and all directly from the source for total warhammer so getting those files aren't a problem. The texutres might be a tad low resolution for vermintide's first person perspective but that's a secondary concern compared to enemy variety.
I've actually got a decent grasp for how to implement proper emissive and transparent texture layers for models in game.
While tedious the implementation of custom ai for the custom units is mostly straight forward and a lot can be used from existing code since the source scripts for vermintide 2 are available online.
This is the tomb scorpion from total warhammer, I've got it to replace the vermintide 2 pig unit. From what i've been able to tell it's just like the normal pig unit except it doesn't have animations or a ragdoll. The game registers it as an entity that you can kill and hit and whatnot all that's missing is the animations. I should be able to do this with other units/enemies as well but I'm starting with the pig as it doesn't move and only has two states that it every uses; idle and ragdoll(death).

>>73757 I guess if you can get importing example units (from vermintide 1?) working it'd be a first step in making the Total Warhammer units portable, but to take units from completely seperate genres and add them into the game seems like a really daunting task. Although I guess who knows, the units in L4D-like games are fairly simple so maybe a Total War unit fits into the class of units that'd actually be possible to have.

I'd be fine with sharing it with others who share a similar end goal to myself so we could all use it on kissu, naturally that'd probably include yourself, me, cool, vern, and anyone else I think would find use from it who wouldn't fuck me over. A madokami for kissu of sorts (21.40T used, 52.65T free plenty of space). But for now, my goal is to be able to completely isolate myself from anything I don't own and hoard my terabytes upon terabytes of otaku media. I'd host a Jellyfin server on it for one, SSH into it to watch stuff on my PC as well, Vern's probably right that I don't know exactly what I'd do to fill a whole 20U, but I do get more ideas by the day.
Would probably migrate the kissu server into that too, as a properly built thing as I learn more about SSH and such, since I realized I don't really need a normal PC to do this stuff and maybe by the time I get it all set up and running and this house is sold the 60 series will be out by then and I can get a running dual-60 series gpu for cool. Need to learn how to hack my smart TV or something to get rid of all the bloat... but maybe by the time I've separated my TV and PC I won't need to do that, doubt it though.
Colo is a business expense unless I'm an actual millionaire, so I won't be doing that. I expect maybe a $1k-$2k cost of cooling it per year depending on the price of energy. But if energy prices go up, I'm also doing well, so that's not too much of a worry. Although would I want the server room to be above ground or in the basement? Surely there must be a good way of naturally alleviating a lot of the necessary cooling I'd need to do through primarily AC. If any one of you does have some good ideas for this in the future and/or ways to make the server more expandable in the future if needed with all sorts of neat things, I wouldn't be too against having a kissu server room in general. Or maybe for something really futuristic that will 100% not happen we could have the servers set up in Northern Canada with Vermin attending to it using the heat from the server as house heating. (of course this'd never happen and even if it did I doubt we'd get a good connection out of it and I want to have my servers available to me 24/7.)
Reading the posts over again... if I were to theoretically get 24 HDDs, would you then suggest 8 of them be used for backup? Say one 24 partition with 8 backup or 4 partitions with 2 backups each. After I get the new house and the server all I r

I think what /secret/ needed was, paradoxically, more moderation. It serves as a good example of the ultimate powerlessness of the community against persistently problematic individuals. There was a nice thing going on, a space for the raunchier exchanges that people agreed were more like 4/qa/ and would be nice to return to, a place where the decorum of the rest of the site didn't apply precisely because of its hiddenness, and the idea that everything went. There was hope, it was spoken of in very positive terms by those that now bemoan it. But with the Hasan and youtubeposting saga, despite overwhelmingly pushing against Vermineux' zero-effort, no-interest slop barrage and all the drama it caused, the community proved unable to defeat this spammer because the stance for moderation was that nothing but the most egregious violations were to be deleted, even if there was wide agreement that this sucked, which eroded interest in the board because nobody gives a flying fuck about V's recommendations that he has a pathological need to repost before even watching them. In this way, it was yet another case showing that total freedom doesn't work and moderation is always needed to ensure the community can continue to function. It also doesn't help that the other gentleman repeatedly spammed the fuck out of the board whenever he threw a tantrum, which most of the time achieved either absolutely nothing at all or contributed towards killing the fun.
