When you say a film/show/album is in your favorites, does it mean you have repeated it at least about half a dozen times or is it enough if you have only experienced it once?

Kind of depends on what it is exactly. It's easier to watch an anime that takes 3 hours total multiple times, but something like a VN with a 80 hour read time is a bit more difficult.
Lately I've found that I like replaying games more than new ones...

If the requirement for it to count is doing it more than once, then i hardly have any favorites at all, apart from a few movies/animes/games etc., so that sounds a bit too strict to me.
I like new experiences i general. And since you can never experience something "like that first time" again, even if end up loving something i usually don't do it a second time. What was, was and what is, is. And the fond memories i have of something i've seen/played is probably better left untouched.
The only exception i can think of is music/songs, since they're short enough that they're kind of meant to be played multiple times. But if i find an album i like, chances are i'll only listen through it to completion once, even if i might come back to certain songs many times.

Some VNs have you replay content for new routes so a full VN playthrough often ends up counting.

Depends.
I can't sit through Joker again (2019) but I know it's one of my favorite capeshit movies.
The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly is one of my favorites that I can autistically sit through and watch over and over again.
Really depends.

I watched Taxi Driver a dozen of times. Is not that great of a movie, anyways.

You know what, I think Taxi Driver is a pretty okay movie, it's not the greatest and it loses its luster after a couple of watches, but yeah.

Some of my shows lose the suspense when you know what will happen and who the bad guy is. I could rewatch it once or twice and enjoy it, but it won't bring back the suspense. It may still be one of my favorites that I can just never experience again.
Likewise some pretty average shows I find very rewatchable and have probably watched five or so times over the decades just because why not it's relaxing and I forget most of the plot after a few years anyways.
