>>89907I don't know why more people don't talk about Kusuriya here. It's one of my favorites of the past year. Despite having the more stereotypical genius MC in part with Maomao, she's not really that impressive in her setting because everyone else is also fairly competent as well. She also has her own shortcomings that cause her to fail more when it comes to interpersonal relations and sorting through more messy issues unless her hand is forced.
It says a lot about a more imperialistic society while not just simply bashing it for existing. The current emperor probably being a more proper fit for his people than the past pedo emperor who was a cowardly loser to the end who seemed to usher in skepticism for the heavenly mandate. Which is probably what allows for government officials/nobles to take aim at Jinshi instead of being in total fear of the Emperor's power.
A shame that palace politics seems to be such a turnoff for a few people.

>>89919Kusuriya is a work of feminist fiction done in a way that's very palatable for ordinary people.
I like it, but those topics don't make me want to discuss them, much less with Kissu who isn't very feminist either.

When is the world going to stop being incredibly kuso and not want people to kill themselves to escape this reality and hopefully find somewhere better in the grand-mulitversal soul exchange?

>>89922>Kusuriya is feminist fictionAh, that explains why I cant't even go near the series while normalfags eat it up like candy.
Looks like my gut instinct was right again.

>>89905The anime industry is first and foremost an industry - generic power fantasy isekai offers safe returns, and will keep being made until it doesn't. The home-video market when Gunslinger Girl was made allowed for diversified bets geared toward more mature consumers with money to spend, VHS/DVD/Blu-ray sales were a focus alongside cross-medium formats. Now that streaming's king total views across the global market and hooking gacha whales have become more important - both of which incentivize as wide an appeal as possible.
There are always exceptions and it's possible to make good anime within these constraints, but isekai's not going away any time soon. On a brighter note I do think falling production costs, competition among streaming services and production companies to differentiate themselves, and easier access to different revenue streams will allow for a new renaissance of more 'niche' anime in the near future, which arguably has already started.

>>89905Anime about depressed girls doesn't appeal to me, a depressed man. I mostly agree that isekai has overstayed its welcome and new anime in that genre fails to capture my interest beyond a novel premise or a cute character design.
I'm looking forward to the new Ghost in the Shell from SARU... It looks very nice judging by its concept art.

All the OPs on the site with GSG are really smug and inflammatory when GSG isn't even that good...
